About Castiglion del Bosco
History
Castiglion del Bosco is rooted in ancient origins: the estate has maintained the same borders for eight centuries.
An ode to the beauty and uniqueness of a place that covers approximately 2,000 hectares, where biodiversity and microclimate contribute to setting the rhythm of nature, and where wine growing can bring out expressions that can be found nowhere else in the world.
Originally a small village belonging to the municipality of Montalcino, today Castiglion del Bosco is an estate where history intertwines with Brunello: the winery is one of the founding members of the Consorzio in 1967.
Wine Philosophy
Castiglion del Bosco is one of the wineries with the largest vineyard extension in Montalcino, however vineyard management is carried out like in a small winery. There are 62 hectares of vineyards teeming with distinct characteristics and specific identities: a puzzle of diverse soils and microclimates, ideal for exploring and emphasizing the concept of 'cru', which allows a wine’s true identity to express itself. The vineyards are consistently cared for by visionary winemaker Cecilia Leoneschi, with her trusted technical team, adopting the organic farming – certified since 2016 - as a natural consequence of the ongoing pursuit of balance. This is the result of tailored attention to detail and a deep understanding of every plant, guided by an essential respect for nature and its rhythm.
Estate & Hospitality
Within the estate, Castiglion del Bosco also provides luxury accommodation with 42 suites located in the restored village, and in 11 scattered villas of Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco. The estate also benefits from Europe’s finest golf experience at The Club, the only private golf course in Italy, designed by legendary American, Open Champion Tom Weiskopf, the 18-hole + 1 (the Brunello Hole) course winds its way through 210 hectares along the rolling hills of the Val D'Orcia.

The Origins
The castle of Castiglion del Bosco, still perched atop the village, was built in 1100.
The name of the place is highly evocative, referring to the woods that surround the castle: the realm of roe deer, pheasants, wild boar and foxes. And, of course, Sangiovese.
The outline of the castle’s ruins have become the symbol of the estate and its wines. Millecento Wine Club derives its name from the estate's founding year, paying homage to its rich history. It was established in 2014 by its founder Massimo Ferragamo, with the long-term vision of creating the most exclusive wine club in the world.

Members' Cellar
In the heart of the winery, a private and elegant space is dedicated to Millecento Wine Club: the Members' Cellar.
This beautifully designed space, a collaboration between Mrs. Chiara Ferragamo and Tuscan designer Teresa Burgisser, is infused with our love of wine.
Here we store, with utmost care and attention, the members’ precious personal collections in private lockers. The Members Cellar also serves as a delightful setting for creating cherished memories with family and friends.
